Co-Directed and Co-Written by Karisma Jay, CROWN follows an aspiring Ballet dancer trying to tame her hair into submission as she embarks on the most important audition of her life. Inspired by the C.R.O.W.N Act which stands for “Create a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair, “CROWN” is a coming-of-age story for all ages to enjoy and is an opportunity to redefine black beauty and representation in the film industry and showcase the creativity of the black hair experience. CROWN first premiered for the community in BKLYN, NY on Friday May 12, 2023 and has an additional community premiere on Sunday July 30, 2023 at the Old Greenbelt Theatre in the DMV!
